traffics : 2025 Half-Year Traffic: HAROPA PORT maintains strong momentum in container traffic

In the first half of 2025, HAROPA PORT recorded maritime traffic of 39.9 million tonnes, down 4.9%. While bulk cargo is declining, the increase in container traffic - 1.51 MTEUs, +4% compared with the first half of 2024, which was already an all-time record, confirms the port's resilience. The period was also marked by the launch of major development projects across the Seine corridor.

Container traffic growth: a sustained trend

HAROPA PORT handled 1.51 million TEUs between January and June 2025, up 4% compared to the already record-setting first half of 2024.
This momentum is also reflected in tonnage terms (+2%, or 14.78 million tonnes), hinterland flows (1.08 million TEUs), and transshipment volumes (0.43 million TEUs).
Modal shift to mass transport continues to grow: river container transport increased by 8.5% in TEUs, while rail transport rose by 16.7% through the end of May. These figures reflect the strengthening of low-carbon logistics on the Seine corridor, in line with HAROPA PORT's strategy.

Bulk: sector-specific factors impact volumes

Liquid bulk reached 18.38 million tonnes at the end of June, a 5.9% decrease compared to the first half of 2024. While refined products dropped by 16.3% (6.54 million tonnes), crude oil rose by 7% (9.48 million tonnes). The overall decline is partly due to a maintenance shutdown at the Esso refineries in Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine and Gonfreville l'Orcher.

Solid bulk totalled 5.79 million tonnes, down 19%. Despite a great recovery in traffic flows - 881,000 tonnes, or +58.7% in aggregates - cereal exports weighed on the half-year balance sheet.

To know: despite a decrease in grain production, HAROPA PORT slightly increased its market share to 54% of French grain exports by sea.

Cruise and vehicle traffic: steady figures and adjustments

Maritime vehicle traffic reached 116,798 units, a 12.1% decrease compared to the first half of 2024.

Cruise activity remained stable, with 231,713 passengers welcomed at the Rouen, Honfleur, and Le Havre terminals (-2.8%), across a total of 98 calls (+2.1%).
