United Kingdom: new sanitary/phytosanitary

As a reminder, the deployment schedule for new customs procedures upon entry into Great Britain, taken from the Border Target Operating Model/BTOM:

January 31, 2024:

  • Introduction of health certification for imports of medium-risk animal products, plants, plant products and high-risk food and feed of non-animal origin from the EU.
  • Removal of prior notification requirements for low-risk plants and plant products from the EU.

April 30, 2024:

  • Introduction of risk-based documentary/identity/physical controls for products of animal origin, plants, plant products, high-risk food and feed of non-animal origin originating from EU.
  • Existing inspections of high-risk plants and plant products from the EU will be moved from the destination to border control posts.
  • UK customs will also begin to simplify imports from non-EU countries.

October 31, 2024:

  • Introduction of safety/security declarations (ENS/Entry Summary Declaration) for imports from all countries, via a reduced set of data deposited in the “UK Single Trade Window”.
