From 6 to 28 June 2026, Paris’s oldest stone bridge will be transformed into a monumental, site-specific artwork. Entitled The Pont Neuf Cave, the installation is a vibrant tribute to Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s historic The Pont Neuf Wrapped, whose 40th anniversary is being celebrated this year.
Visible from the riverbanks, bridges and the Seine itself, the work will offer a new perspective on the Parisian landscape at the start of summer 2026.
The installation will be freely accessible to the public. Visitors will be able to walk through it, sail beneath it on a Seine river cruise, or experience it from the riverbanks throughout the event.
To mark the occasion, the Paris Port Community and artist JR invited river stakeholders to take part in this unique artistic experience in the heart of the French capital.
To strengthen the dialogue between the bridge and the river, a unique river pavilion inspired by the installation was designed. The flag may be flown on vessels throughout the event, from 6 to 28 June 2026.
Many boat operators have already confirmed their participation. The ambition is to encourage as many vessels as possible to replace their usual flag with this specially created design for the duration of the event.
This initiative extends the dialogue between the Pont Neuf and the Seine by fully integrating the river into the artistic experience.
Visible both day and night, from the riverbanks and from the water, visitors will discover an evolving artwork brought to life by the monumental installation itself and by the movement of participating vessels along the Seine.
This collective dimension also shines a spotlight on river activities and navigation at the heart of Paris.
