Shared-use quays

Published on - Updated

Shared-use quays (QUP) are spaces along the waterway made available to all companies wishing to use the river for occasional cargo transport. They enable the transhipment of materials and cargoon the river, helping to reduce road congestion and improve air quality.

The shared-use quay is also a stopover for passenger transport or an occasional leisure spot. The quays are subject to reservation, and an agreement for occupation of public property is required, which can range from one day to one month, renewable where possible.

QUPs may be open to walkers outside operating hours and must in this case be vacated and cleaned at the end of the period of use. This is the mix of uses desired by HAROPA PORT in order to open up the river to the city and its inhabitants.
