Port infrastructures, maritime : Le Havre's CNMP terminal acquires 14 hybrid straddle carriers to optimize flows and emissions

Hanseatic Global Terminals, a subsidiary of the Hapag-Lloyd shipping group and majority shareholder in CNMP since March 2025, has ordered 14 hybrid straddle carriers from Kalmar. This equipment, destined to the Atlantic terminal in Le Havre, will optimize logistics flows, reduce emissions, and enhance working conditions for drivers.

Hybrid gantries for a more sustainable terminal

The new gantries will be the first of their kind to be deployed at the terminal.

Equipped with a 100% hybrid engine, they significantly reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, while enhancing driver safety and comfort.  Their redesigned cabs and reduced noise levels contribute to improve working conditions.

Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

New investments to boost flows at North Terminals

This investment, for a total amount of over €15 million, is part of a broader project to modernize CNMP LH's port infrastructure, initiated by Hanseatic Global Terminals following its acquisition of a 60% stake in the company last March.

It aims to support the significant increase in container volumes handled at the terminal since March 2025.

A commitment in line with HAROPA PORT's ambitions

By adopting innovative hybrid solutions and investing massively in infrastructure, Hanseatic Global Terminals reaffirms its commitment to sustainable, high-performance logistics. This initiative aligns with HAROPA PORT's strategy to combine operational efficiency with reduced environmental impact.
