maritime : Le Havre to welcome CMA CGM's 10 new French-flagged LNG-powered container ships
From 2026, ten 24,000 TEU LNG-powered ships flying the French flag will join the CMA CGM fleet. Assigned to one of the FAL (Fast Asia Line) routes connecting Asia to Northern Europe, these giants of the seas will call at Le Havre, just like the first series inaugurated by the flagship, the CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE. This major decision for the French maritime sector of the CMA CGM Group, confirms the strategic role of HAROPA PORT and the capacity of its infrastructure to welcome the largest ships in the world.
These latest-generation container ships will gradually enter service on one of the FAL lines. Powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), they will help significantly reduce the environmental footprint of maritime transport on the main Asia-Europe route. CMA CGM Notre-Dame, Panthéon, Orsay, Luxembourg, Pont Neuf, Versailles, Austerlitz, Nation, Cluny, Longchamp… These iconic names pay tribute to Parisian landmarks, symbolizing national pride and France's maritime excellence.
This fleet renewal further strengthens CMA CGM's regional presence in France, particularly in Le Havre, and highlights HAROPA PORT's position at the heart of major global trade flows. It comes at a time when the competitiveness of ports and their ability to accommodate very large container ships are major challenges in the global logistics chain and for France’s sovereignty.
This investment is complemented by the recruitment of 135 French sailors, supported by a strengthened partnership between the CMA CGM Group and the École Nationale Supérieure Maritime (ENSM).
This announcement confirms HAROPA PORT's position among the European maritime hubs capable of receiving the largest vessels in service, thanks to its world-class infrastructure, adapted water depths, and strategy of supporting international shipowners.
